Omar Sanchez, Photographer and Photojournalist based in Santa Ana, California.

“Tales in the Details” stems from the phrase “The Story is in the Image”, a concept influenced by my experiences working in the field as a photojournalist. The focus is to include as many —or as little— elements in my photographs to speak for themselves that correspond with a specific individual, event or moment in time, no matter the assignment.

Images are fundamentally built on photo composition, preparation, patience, instinct and creativity by capturing moments as they are developing. I only use my time in post-production to enhance the image in terms of lighting and color correction.

The only time I would ever coordinate a photograph(s) is when shooting portraiture.

Projects have included single still images & photo essays for assignments that range from wildfires and crime scenes to political demonstrations and events in entertainment, as well as NCAA Division 1 sports and Major League Baseball coverage.

I’ve worked alongside the Voice of Orange County, Daily Titan, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, local musicians & bands, and a couple of Winter Guard International (WGI) World & Open Class percussion ensembles. Work has been recognized by the Orange County Press Club and California News Publishers Association.

Graphic Design is also apart of my repertoire, fundamentally built through my images with techniques in typography & text manipulation embedded on-top of them.

I’ve also spent some time as a sports editor responsible for revising & polishing articles related to Cal State Fullerton athletics and regional professional sports. Through that experience I’ve gained further knowledge of fact-checking, section-editing, grammar, AP style, captions & headline writing, and search engine optimization.

My focus is more in the editorial industry but I also love photographing Arts & Culture in my community as well as live music, sports, and parts of México whenever I'm across the border.

I’m currently available for freelance assignments anywhere in California and beyond with the ability to deliver work on location and on deadline.

- Self-taught drummer since the age of 12. Haven’t been drumming as much as I’d like to recently but we’ll see what happens in the near future. Chops are decent at best.

- Frequent concert goer.

- Burrito enthusiast & listens to albums in their entirety.

- First ever memory retained as a child is going to an Angels baseball game with my father back when they played in pinstripes so my love for sports was pretty much destined.

- If I’m not doing anything productive, I’m probably in hell punishing the dark lord’s army in DOOM Eternal.

- Novice surfer
